FAIR USE WINS, Copyright Troll Loses, over “News” Screenshot

Judge Nathan in the Southern District of New York has ruled that a use of a cropped screenshot of a copyrighted “news” article is a Fair Use where the secondary user made criticism and commentary as opposed to simply republishing the article.

Match.com Catfished Us ALL

Match Group, owner of Match.com, Tinder, OKCupid, PlentyOfFish, and 41 other dating sites, is accused of lining its pockets with ill-gotten gains from sending “You’ve Got Mail” notices to unpaid users from suspected-fraudulent accounts. They filtered the suspected accounts for paying users.
