The ENTIRE Music Industry sues ISP Charter Communications for BitTorrent File-Sharing

The Music Industry, led by Warner Brothers, is suing Charter over DMCA Safe-Harbor allegations that Charter failed to enforce a termination policy for repeatedly infringing users. Magistrate Judge Michael Hegarty from Colorado makes his Recommendations in favor of the Labels.

Ubisoft Sues Cheaters – But IS IT COPYRIGHT?!?!1

Mizusoft allegedly makes Rainbow 6 Siege hacking/cheating software for which it charges at least $77/month. Ubisoft has sued under Copyright and other claims – but is it a violation of the DMCA’s Anti-circumvention provisions?

NJ Judge *KICKS OUT* STRIKE3 HOLDINGS “COPYRIGHT TROLL”

Judge Joel Schneider has dismissed at least four Strike3 Holdings cases and issued a blistering opinion outlining the investigation he and his staff have conducted into the “Troll’s” legal-extortion scheme. Can this ruling be applied to every other Strike3 case in NJ?

Caught Selling Stolen Satellite TV, DISH Sues

Dish Network and its security partner, Nagrastar, have sued “Boom Media” alleging that the set-top boxes and streaming service sold by the company are intended to receive hundreds of pirated TV channels from Dish’s Satellite TV Service.

Biggie Smalls Transforms Copyright Fair Use

The Notorious BIG is back to teach us about Copyright Transformation. Christopher Wallace’s estate (and others) were sued for infringement of The Last Poet’s lyric “party and bull . . .” in “When the Revolution Comes” from 1968. Let’s see why Biggie’s use of the phrase is a “quintessential fair use”.
